Rule 2: Remember What You Lost

Remember what you lost, in detail – the thing in all its glory and in all its distaste, the people who took the thing away. The time that it happened. Your life before the loss and after the loss.

And most importantly, remember that the threat of a loss will always be more daunting than the loss. So let the fear of letting-things-go go.

Corollary to Rule 2:
Observe the lives of those who haven’t lost as much. Observe the difference between their lives and yours. In detail. Observe what makes them tick. Observe the ease of things. (Think to screw them). And remember this feeling, the quiet anger.

Use it in ways they can’t imagine.

More importantly, never use it in ways that they can imagine.
